Where are am I?

I went to see my boss today and he offered me a new job with lots of travel opportunities. He said we would be developing new properties in a place called D’ni and wanted me to check it out. The last thing I remember about that meeting, is him showing me a book. Now I am on some weird island, surrounded by nothingness. All I see is a strange hut in front of me and a totem pole. What is this place?

It appears that the totem pole contains a book, with a picture of a desert. And to my surprise when I touched the picture (I felt compelled to), I was in the desert all of a sudden! What is going on? Is this what happened with my boss and the book he showed me? If so, how do I get back?

There is a guy named Zandi out here in the desert telling me he knows more about why I am here than I do. Nice. So, tell me why am I here? Instead he cryptically tells me that she has left a message for me. Who is she, and why has she left me a message?

Upon further inspection in this desert, I’ve found some cloths that have a weird hand symbol that glow when I touch them. Also, more of the hand symbol glows each time I discover and run my hand across another cloth.

Curses! While crossing a bridge inside this cleft area, it suddenly gave out beneath me! I almost broke my legs falling, but luckily I am safe. I see I have bought a book with me. It contains an image of the strange island I was originally on with the hut. I think I will go back there and rest a bit after that fall.
